For the recently opened Rustica – Fresh Italian Kitchen, we worked closely with the owners to set a tone that’s sophisticated, lively and inviting.
The interior design opens the space with pale tones, light woods and refined fabric patterns reminiscent of Italian textiles. We grounded the interior with a stunning palette of terracotta reds, warm yellows, beiges, and defining grays.
Guests enter a brightly lit floor of patterned concrete tiles inspired by traditional Italian ceramics. Sculptural lounge chairs and cushioned bancos meet around a fireplace clad in semolina-colored plaster. Vintage wine barrels have been repurposed as cocktail tables.
The main dining room is made for comfort and lively conversation. In Rustica’s intimate bar, we shifted the mood with oversized copper pendants that glow with mellow light perched over an aged zinc bar top.
The interior also features a large colorful mural and portraits of the owners’ “family” by a local artist. These join other artworks, as well as authentic Italian kitchenware in copper and wood, displayed on Rustica’s walls.
